We believe in the therapeutic power of really good furniture. Each piece is handmade to align with our vision of a world with fewer, truer objects.
WHO WE ARE
For 38 years, we've designed and built solid, simple furniture that upgrades your environment and makes the everyday a joy. Our commitment remains the same: painstaking wood selection, the strongest hardware available anywhere, and a perfect oil finish. A significant portion of our orders come from returning clients, and it is an honor to be part of your family's story.
In 1985, we started with five. Today, we still strive for lasting art, objects, and structures that reflect our clients' unique perspectives of the world.
CO-OWNER + LEAD DESIGNER
Hailing from a furniture family, Hannah is the driving creative force behind our work. From concept to execution, her thorough and nuanced approach yields terrific results for our clients.
DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
Self-described "Nebraska farm boy" Derrick is head of workshop operations, with unparalleled grasp of how furniture hits the senses. He carries an actual tacklebox of finishing and inlay tools.
Like a sushi chef learns rice for years, Jeff first apprenticed at BFA for a decade. From landscape architecture to hand-carving drums in Belize, he has a peak relationship with nature's greatest material.
CO-OWNER + CEO
Lee started at BFA in 1999, determined to steward Boulder through an emergence of livable objects. He leads our teams with clarity, and brings a fresh perspective to each project.
With a background in boatmaking and bicycles, Brian is obsessive about making your furniture function perfectly for the long haul. Some clients suspect he is a real-life wizard.
DESIGNER + WOODWORKER
Artist and free-climber Jamie is as much at home in the shop as in Moab. A degree in Industrial Design combines with formal training in large-scale public art installation to redefine girl power.
You'll inevitably talk details with Andrew. He's a logistics maestro and process whiz kid, with an exacting eye for detail and passion for business integrity.
MAN OF STEEL
Our intern all grown up, Erik is a keen engineer with a mind for complex elements and advanced integrations. His dual passions in art and physics bring our more mind-boggling designs to life.
CHIEF BARKETING OFFICER
A superlative Humane Society special - Daisy is our shop dog and a renowned bark expert (she's actually very quiet). With one ear up and one down, she's equal parts active listener and calming sidekick.
As BFA has evolved, we've upgraded our studio and workshop to bigger and better digs. Thank you for following us for nearly four decades.
